Safari 4WD Hire offers a range of top quality reliable vehicles to suit the needs for couples, families and small groups wanting to hire a 4WD to visit world heritage listed Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world and the Fraser Coast.

Vehicle Options

Toyota Landcruiser Wagon: The Toyota Land Cruiser is perfect for small groups or families who want to travel on the Island in comfort. It seats up to 6 people with plenty of room to spare for your luggage or camping gear.

Accommodation

Rates are available for camping at Fraser Island and conveniently packaged together with your 4WD rental (from 01 April 2012).

Sleeping bags and other linen are not included within the camping equipment packs.
Sleeping bags are available for hire at $10 per bag per hire (payable direct).

Times

Please see below for barge times from the mainland to Fraser Island as these must be advised at the time of booking. Please book your barge directly with the transfer company. There are two later barge times from Fraser Island to Hervey Bay (4.30pm and 5.00pm) however it is not recommended that you book either of these departures as the Safari 4WD office will be closed and fees are involved for late vehicle returns.

Barge Hervey Bay to Fraser Island: 6.45am, 8.30am, 9.00am, 10.15am, 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.00pm

Barge Fraser Island to Hervey Bay: 7.50am, 9.00am, 10.30am, 2.00pm and 3.00pm

Briefing ex Hervey Bay: All customers are required to attend a briefing 2 hours prior to ferry departure times. In the case of the 6.45am and 8.30am ferry times customers must attend the briefing the day before at 3pm.

Barge Rainbow Beach to Fraser Island: The ferry runs continuously between the mainland and Fraser Island and takes approximately 15 minutes.

Please note: Self drive 4x4 hire is no longer available from Rainbow Beach until further notice.

Briefing ex Rainbow Beach: Briefings take place at 7.00am, 8.00am, 11.00am and 12.00noon and take approximately 1 hour. Departure times are dependent on the tide times allowing beach access to Fraser Island. Safari 4WD will advise the recommended time for the customer to attend their briefing based on low tide times.

Please Note: All hire attracts a $10.00 administration fee payable on pickup of vehicle (included in rate from 01 April 2012)
Vehicle Permit: Approx $38.25 per vehicle (included in rate from 01 April 2012)
Camping Permit: Approx $5 per person per night (inclusive in camping rate from 01 April 2012)
Camping Equipment Hire: $20.00 per person per night (inclusive rate from 01 April 2012)
Rates: Are calculated on a calendar day NOT 24 hour period
Cancellation fees: Apply within 60 days prior to travel
Vehicle Collection: 102 Boat Harbour Drive Hervey Bay & 5 Karoonda Rd Rainbow Beach (not available from Rainbow Beach until further notice)
Office opening hours: Mon - Fri 7.00am - 5.30pm. Sat and Sun 7.00am - 11.00am and 1.00pm - 5.30pm
